USED BOOK WEBSITES

Y'all, when I found used book websites I swear it changed my life! These sites are some of my favorites to shop from!

1. Abebooks

Abebooks is a platform created by Amazon that allows independent sellers to list used books for sale. You will find companies such as Half Price Books listing their inventory on this website. This is my most used site when it comes to purchasing books. You can find indie and traditionally published books on this site.

Prices Range: $3+

Shipping Costs: Media Mail shipping costs.

Customer Service: Great.

Tips: When purchasing from a seller, check the seller's whole inventory for other books you might be looking for because it will combine shipping and bring down your total cost.

Always check the condition of the book before purchasing.

2. Thriftbooks

Thriftbooks is a website that carries both new and used books for a fraction of the price. They have a great rewards program and I have purchased through them numerous times. You can find both indie and traditionally published books on their site.

Prices Range: $3+

Shipping Costs: $0.50 per book or free if you spend $10+

Customer Service: Great.

Tips: Always check the condition options of the book before purchasing. Sometimes it is only $0.25 more to get a brand new book instead of a used one.

Sometimes the paperback and hardback versions of a book are the same prices so if you prefer hardback look for that!

Always check for coupon codes before purchasing!

If a book you're looking for isn't in stock, add it to your wishlist and Thriftbooks will email you if it becomes available!

Here's a link to receive a 15% off coupon on your first purchase!

Yes, I know you're probably looking at me like I'm crazy but I have found some of the best deals on eBay. People are often just looking to get rid of books and make a few bucks off them so you can score $15 books for less than $5. I've found indie and traditionally published books on eBay.

Prices Range: $2+

Shipping Costs: Depends on the seller. Normally Media Mail prices.

Customer Service: Good

Tips: Always check the seller's rating before purchasing from them.

If you are purchasing multiple books from the same seller reach out to them and see if they will bundle shipping.

I always pay through Paypal because it's a smoother process and it's easier to file a claim if a book gets lost in the mail.

4. Discover Books

Discover Books is another great site for purchasing new and used books. They pride themselves on helping the environment by recycling and reusing books. I've purchased from them in the past and received great quality books! You can find both indie and traditionally published books on their site.

Prices Range: $4+

Shipping Costs: Free US Shipping. Excludes Alaska & Hawaii.

Customer Service: Good

Tips: Sign up for their reward program and get a 10% off coupon.

If you're looking for indie books search for specific authors instead of searching by a genre. Mostly traditionally publish books show up in the main genres.
